CSS Ltd has turned to industry experts Process Instruments to help provideinstrumentation for Scottish Water Solutions.
Scottish Water Solutions is a partnership of utility industry experts and contractors delivering a major amount of Scottish Water's capital investment programme.
The asset delivery company wanted a movable instrument skid so that they could validate the disinfection systems on their newly installed works. They turned to CSS Ltd to provide a single wall or floor mountable enclosure which contained the innovative CRIUS 3500 Total Chlorine Analyser and a TM2200 Turbidity Meter from Process Instruments.
The sites in Scotland are often remote, with little or no operator resource therefore the instrument used for the chlorine and turbidity monitoring, needs to be reliable, with low sample usage, onboard data logging, simple to move from site to site, and in one case capable of operating from a 24 volt supply.
The CRIUS 3500 and TM2200 are able to adhere to all these criteria. David Hawthorne of CSS Ltd said: “Both instruments offered exactly what Scottish Water Solutions needed. The service from Process Instruments is excellent, they even customised the software to suit our exact needs and the option of auto-calibration and remote communication via GSM/GPRS is attractive if we need to implement it.”
The CRIUS 3500 also has the capability to talk to the user. It is the first of its kind in the world as it uses a GSM/GPRS modem to directly alert the user when the system needs maintaining or calibrating. It was developed in collaboration with the University of Manchester and is the world’s first auto-calibrating residual chlorine analyser, with this capability.
